Club Pooche owner Elisa Kamens had a rare opportunity last weekend; while continuing her development as a trainer, she had the good fortune to meet famed Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan during a book signing. Kamens also attended the celebrity trainer’s talk on dog training tips at the Lyric Opera House on Saturday, January 14, 2012. Elisa felt the event was educational, but also confirmed many of her philosophies on training.
“We give our dogs affection first without their being in a relaxed state of mind, which solidifies negative behavior.” Elisa stated. Our dogs are family members, and sometimes
very rowdy ones. The key to unlocking their potential is putting the time in for proper exercise and training – the behaviors that earn our affection. ”Affection and trust must be earned,” Elisa continued.
“Cesar and I had a similar start,” noted Elisa of Millan, “I felt inspired and re-energized by his presentation. It was good to hear someone else speak in the language of the industry.” As Cesar spoke about his path to a well-tamed canine, Elisa felt validated in the experience she and her staff deliver at Club Pooche. What’s next for leader of the Club Pooche pack? ”I’m looking forward to future continuing education,” says Kamens.
